Early College/Dual Enrollment/CTE Program
This site is intended to provide information and guidance for students who are participating in the Early College program, Dual Enrollment and Career and Technical Education Programs. The Early College program is a 5 year high school program in which students need to apply and be admitted by the beginning of their junior year of high school. This is different than dual enrollment in that students will not receive their high school diploma until the end of the 5th year, assuming that all requirements for graduation have been met after that 5th year. Please check this page frequently for updates. If you have any questions, please contact one of the counselors.
5th Year / Early College -Students participating in Early College start as juniors in high school, and extend their high school enrollment by one year in order to earn both their high school diploma and up to 60 college credits beginning their junior year. Students earn college and high school credit at the same time. Early College students spend the 5th year of high school as a full-time college student but do not receive their diploma until that year is completed. Students experience graduation and other senior activities with their class. In addition to the requirements below, students must attend an interview with the SRESD team in order to enter the early college program. Dual Enrollment - Students who want to take college classes while they are in high school, but do not want to participate in the Early College Program will select this option. Students earn both college and high school credit at the same time but earn their diploma at the end of their regular senior year. If you select this option, you will not be able to participate in the Early College Program. Please access this link for the SRESD Dual Enrollment 2026-27 Application.
Career and Technical Education Programs - Students who have a 2.0 and higher can apply to participate in one of the following programs. There are limited seats allocated to PHS, so not all students who apply may be accepted into the programs.
