This site is intended to provide information and guidance for students who are participating in the Early College program.  The Early College program is a 5 year high school program in which students need to apply and be admitted by the beginning of their junior year of high school.  This is different than dual enrollment in that students will not receive their high school diploma until the end of the 5th year, assuming that all requriments for graduation have been met after that 5th year.  Please check this page frequently for updates.  If you ahve any questions, please contact Mrs. Smiley.

5th Year Students

The information below is intended for students in the fifth year of the Early College program!

Service Learning/Community Service

  • Students must complete 100 hours of verified community service OR at least 40 hours of verified career exploration, internship, job shadow experienc or clinical experience.  Students may also complete a combination of these hours with 70 volunteer hours AND 20 job shadow/career exploration.  You may use the same log sheet for all of your hours or you may submit the sheets to Ms. Smiley as you complete your experiences.  You can count any experiences you completed in 9th-12th grade, but these hours must be completed by May 1 of the 5th year.   Log Sheet

FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid

  • The FAFSA applications are available online to fill out starting October 1 of every year.  Go to www.fafsa.gov or go to the FAFSA link on Perry High School's page.  Remember, you will be enrolling as a first time college student/freshman upon completion of the program even though you have completed some college credits.  You should double check this with your specific college to make sure though.

Scholarships

  • Again, you are applying for scholarships as a first-time freshman even though you have completed some college credit.  An ongoing list of scholarships I receive will be on Perry's Scholarships page and you can find helpful scholarship resources tips the Early College program provides on their page.

Applying for Colleges

  • Don't forget to apply for colleges, especially if you wil be attending a different college next fall.  If you will be continuing at the same college, you need to check with them to see how they need you to change your status from dual enrollment to freshman status.
  • As you apply to colleges, make sure you are requesting your transcripts to be sent via Parchment on www.parchment.com.  If you need hlep with this, let Ms. Smiley know.
