The Perry Elementary Specials Teachers kicked off their year-long program of character education on Wednesday, September 22nd with the topic of empathy. Teachers role-played listening rather than ignoring, eye contact rather than listening while looking at distractions, and responding rather than talking about unrelated topics.  This month, students practiced communicating empathetically while they returned someone’s missing shoe.  Mr. Bentley, Mrs. Huhn and Mr. Rockafellow will be teaching positive social skills throughout the year during half-day school sessions.
